Serving Brevard, Flagler, Indian River, Lake, Martin, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, St. Lucie, Sumter and Volusia counties.

Description of Services

The Region III Adult Literacy Center, funded by Florida Department of Education, Division of Community Colleges and Workforce Education, assists in enhancing, improving and expanding the literacy levels of adults in the 12-county Region III service area by providing:

1. Direct client interventions related to identifying, contacting, counseling, and referring persons who have limited literacy.

2. Indirect client interventions such as public awareness.

3. Support of volunteer initiatives.

4. Enhancement of collaboration and coordination among service providers and others including:

  • Volunteer literacy organizations and service providers/supporters
  • Workplace/workforce partners
  • Business and health/human service providers
  • Regional nonprofit leadership organizations
  • Local education agencies
  • Faith based organizations.
Qualifying clients must be 16 years of age or older, beyond compulsory school age, not have a secondary school diploma, are not enrolled in a secondary school, and who may also be limited in English proficiency.
